Summers on the Beach

I could find to me being at the beach.

Spending your summer at the beach is truly the only way to completely enjoy the excitement and thrill of the beautiful, warm weather. I spend as much time as I possibly can every summer relaxing at my favorite beaches in the Mukilteo area. Walking to the beach to have my fill of fun, the heat rolls off the ground, warming my bare legs in the sun. As I make my way through the parking lot to the beach, laughter, squealing, and splashing rise up the path, which causes my legs to move faster. Kites and frisbees fly around, illuminating the cerulean blue sky and nearly perfect green grass with a brilliant rainbow of colors, making me shield my eyes from the scenic array of colors as I watch them to my left. The waves breaking on the beach make my head turn back towards my destination where I see kids playing. They leap over waves, build sand castles, play fetch with their pets, and just enjoy the high life of being a child. Suddenly, hot dogs and burgers on the cooking pits overlooking the beach waft through the parking lot I’m walking through, quicker now to get to the action. My mouth waters with the anticipation of delectable, juicy burgers and dogs hot off the grill. Although walking seems to take minutes, after approximately just thirty seconds of walking, my toes meet the sand which sifts between my toes. The rocks and shells buried in the velvety sand grate across the bottom of my feet as I walk over them. I barely notice them and the fallen logs obstructing my path to the water’s edge, overly preoccupied by the green tinted waves rolling across the coastline. When I finally get to the water’s edge, the sand squishes between my toes and water laps at my feet, instantly refreshing me. I take a few steps out into the cool, choppy water and dive. Chilling me almost instantly, I swim around the salty waterfront feeling refreshed by the cool water that flows over my skin. The sun beats down on the water’s surface, warming the ocean and me at the same time. A smile grows across my face and I instantly remember why I love the beach during this gorgeous summer season. Sadly, I live in Washington, where the sun only shines for a couple months out of the year; otherwise, I would spend every day enjoying the beach and basking in the glorious sun.
